Rack Burning System

La Calera Cement Plant, Chile — Completed 2006

AFS provided the plant’s second rack suspension burner, expanding its ability to use whole tires as fuel in the kiln precalciner. The system included a rack suspension burner with tire-injection ram, a high-speed belt-driven live roller conveyor, a tire slide to lower the feed elevation, and additional belt-driven live roller conveyors. The hook elevator shown below was installed during the earlier phase of the project, which featured the first whole-tire suspension-burning system designed for a precalciner cement kiln.
