Whole Tire Fuel Feed System

San Gabriel Cement (Cementos Progreso) – Guatemala (2018) – AFS is very excited to be a part of this “all new” greenfield cement plant project in Guatemala, which is currently underway and scheduled to be commissioned late 2018 or early 2019. The tire fuel system is being designed to feed whole tires to the updraft section of the kiln’s (Thyssenkrupp) calciner using the AFS patented Skewer Suspension Burner with Wire Recovery System – which keeps tires suspended in the calciner for 100% burnout and enable the kiln to utilize a minimum of 3.5 tph of whole tire fuel without experiencing abnormal CO or SO2 process conditions.

The first phase of this project includes the skewer suspension burner, weight based feed rate controls, zoned accumulation conveyors, a 60-meter-long “steep climb” inclined cleated belt conveyor and ground level manual loading belt conveyors. Provisions are provided to include a future second kiln line and shredded RDF feed.

The second phase of this project includes an automated tire receiving system with Rotary Disk Tire Separator, Live Bottom Hopper and Tire Inspection, Rejection System. Future expansion of the site could also include a dual belt conveyor system feeding tires and RDF from the north side of the plant.
